Three images of Barbaro in NTRA poll

Barbaro is the focus of three of the 10 images selected by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association as the 2006 "NTRA Moment of the Year," with the winning image to be determined by an online poll.

Barbaro's Kentucky Derby victory, his injury in the Preakness, and the subsequent public interest in his treatment at the University of Pennsylvania's equine clinic dominate the slate from which voters can choose.

Events from later in the year include Lava Man's Pacific Classic

victory, which made him the first horse to sweep that race, the Santa Anita Handicap, and the Hollywood Gold Cup in the same year.

Also on the ballot is trainer Todd Pletcher's breaking of D. Wayne Lukas's record for stakes and graded stakes victories in a year, as well as Russell Baze's surpassing of Lafitt Pincay Jr. as the sport's winningest jockey.

Three Breeders' Cup victories are represented: Street Sense in the Juvenile, Ouija Board in the Filly and Mare Turf, and Invasor in the Classic.

Rounding out the candidates is Discreet Cat's track-record-tying performance in the Cigar Mile.

Persons 18 and older can register to vote at , and participants who select the image that wins will be eligible for a random drawing for a $1,000 prize. Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. Eastern on Jan. 15.
