Three horses tie for fastest furlong at OBS breeze show

Wednesday’s breeze show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. spring sale of 2-year-olds in training featured fast times, with three colts tying for the fastest furlong and five tying for the fastest quarter-mile.

The juveniles breezed over the Ocala Training Center’s all-weather Safetrack surface.

Eight horses had breezed an eighth in 9 4/5 seconds after the third of six under-tack sessions, including the following three on Wednesday.

• Hip 422, a Gio Ponti colt out of the unraced Mineshaft mare Wings of Gold, who is the dam of two winners from three foals to race. He is from the family of Panamanian champion Gris Grande, Grade 3 winner Fantasy Angel, and Grade 2-placed stakes-winning second dam Vision in Flight. Eisaman Equine consigns the colt as agent.

• Hip 481, a High Cotton colt out of the unraced Hennessey mare Angelic Amanda, whose four winners from five foals to race include the Grade 3-placed Show Me the Bling. French Group 1 winner Always Earnest, Grade 2 winner Nettie Cometti, and Grade 3 winner Symphony Lady can be found elsewhere on the Florida-bred’s page. He is consigned by Halcyon Hammock Farm as agent.

• Hip 524, a Florida-bred Yes It’s Tue colt out of the winning Grand Slam mare Battingstar. Consigned by Craig Wheeler as agent, the colt’s family features Grade 3 winner Move and Grade 3-placed stakes winners Falling Sky and Reforest.

Wednesday’s breeze show also brought to seven the number of horses to work two furlongs in 20 3/5 seconds, whereas only one posted a time that fast prior to last year’s sale. Following are the five horses to achieve that time Wednesday.

• Hip 428, a colt from the first crop of sire Maclean's Music, out of the stakes-winning Trust N Luck mare Wonderful Luck. The dam's first foal is the stakes-placed Leprechaun Kid, and the extended family includes Grade/Group 3 winners Imperial Colony and Riddlesdown as well as Grade 1-placed stakes winner Western Winter. Eddie Woods consigns the colt as agent.

• Hip 429, Teddy Bear, a Wildcat Heir colt out of the unraced Montbook mare Wontoo, whose three foals to race are all winners. The Florida-bred's fourth dam is the champion Our Mims, putting him on the same page as the great Alydar, Breeders' Cup Sprint inner Elmhurst, Grade 1 winners Fast Look and Continuously, and Grade 3 winners Singandthesong and Van Perpigan. Journeyman Bloodstock Services consigns the colt as agent.

• Hip 445, an Old Fashioned filly out of the unraced Alphabet Soup mare A B C Amanda, whose six winners from nine foals to race include the Grade 1-placed Mystery Girl. Brazilian Group 1-placd Amapola can be found in the extended family. Blue River Bloodstock consigns as agent.

• Hip 491, an Exchange Rate filly who is the second foal out of the unraced Arch mare Arcing. French Group 3 winner Bon Vent and multiple Grade 1-placed second dam Pertuisane can also be found on her page. She is consigned by Southern Chase Farm as agent.

• Hip 599, an Into Mischief colt out of the placed Limehouse mare Casa Lima. The extended family is highlighted by Triple Crown winner Affirmed, French Oaks winner Confidential Lady, and Grade/Group 3 winners Drilling for Oil and White Crown. Thoroughbred Champions Training Center is the consignor.

The breeze shows continue daily through Saturday, with each session beginning at 8 a.m. Eastern. The sale takes place April 19-22, starting at 10:30 a.m.
