Three cover a furlong in 9 4/5 at OBS under-tack show

A trio of colts tied for the fastest time for an eighth of a mile during Tuesday’s Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. spring 2-year-olds in training sale under-tack show, stopping the clock in 9 4/5 seconds.

Those juveniles tied the two to reach that mark during Monday’s first session of the breeze show, bringing the total to five, which already eclipsed the three to tie for the same fastest time during last year’s sale. The horses breezed over the Ocala Training Center’s all-weather Safetrack surface.

Following are the three entries to tie for the fastest furlong during Tuesday’s breeze show.

* Hip 305, a Haynesfield colt out of the winning Wild Again mare Swinging. He is a sibling to four winners from five runners, including stakes-placed Off Limits. The page also features Grade 1 winners Miner's Mark, Traditionally, and My Flag; Grade 1-placed Our Emblem; Grade 2 winner Interactif; and Grade 3 winners Animal Spirits, Divine Oath, and Ocho Ocho Ocho. Cary Frommer consigns the colt as agent.

Bred in Kentucky by WinStar Farm, the colt was a $25,000 purchase out of the 2015 Keeneland September yearling sale.

* Hip 323, a Flatter colt out of the winning Dixieland Band mare There Are Rainbows, who has had two winners from three runners. His page is highlighted by third dam Safely Kept, a champion sprinter and multiple Grade 1 winner, and other notable names include Grade 2 winners Partner's Hero and Peace Chant.

Robert Brewer consigns the colt, as agent. The colt was bred in Florida by Don Ming, and sold for $70,000 at last year’s Keeneland September sale.

* Hip 395, a Macho Uno colt out of the winning Saint Ballado mare Wadena, whose two winners from four foals to race includes stakes-placed Papa Turf. Consigned by Grassroots Training and Sales, the colt is from the family of Grade 3 winner Ammy Hills.

The colt was bred in Kentucky by T/C Stables. The consignor bought the colt for $85,000 out of last year’s Keeneland September sale.

Tuesday’s breeze show also saw another horse cover two furlongs in 20 3/5 seconds, matching the Biondetti filly who turned in Monday’s fastest time. One horse led last year’s sale with the same time.

That 20 3/5-second time Tuesday was turned in by Hip 242, a colt from the first crop of Shackleford, out of the winning Meadowlake mare Something Brewing. The dam's four foals to race are all winners, including the Grade 3-placed Pedaltothemedal. Further down the colt’s page is Grade 1 winner El Brujo, Grade 2 winner Concave, and Group 3 winner Barn Five South. Envision Equine consigns as agent.

English Range Farm bred the colt in Florida.

The under-tack show for the OBS spring sale continues daily through Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. Eastern. The auction takes place April 19-22, starting each day at 10:30 a.m.
