Three 3-year-olds meet again

SUNLAND PARK, N.M. - In the New Mexico Racing Commission Handicap for fillies and mares here Nov. 30, the first-, second-, and fourth-place finishers were 3-year-old fillies. Those three - Shemoveslikeaghost, Ghost Chatter, and Miss Trixie - meet again at Sunland Park in Friday's $125,000-added La Coneja Stakes, a 5 1/2-furlong race for statebred 3-year-old fillies.

Shemoveslikeaghost was 10-1 in the NMRC, despite having run second in the Aztec Oaks one week before at Sun Ray Park, whereas the other contenders in the race were without a recent start. Now her competitors have had four weeks to catch up.

Shemoveslikeaghost, trained by Fred Danley and owned by William Stradley, will once again have Ken Tohill in the saddle.

Ghost Chatter, owned by M J Enterprises, finished second as the 2-1 favorite in the NMRC, beaten a neck by Shemoveslikeaghost. In her race before that, Ghost Chatter defeated older mares Sept. 20 in the New Mexico Distaff at Sun Ray. She has won 4 of 5 since coming to the barn of Henry Dominguez this spring. Sal Gonzalez Jr. has the call on Ghost Chatter, who could be favored again.

Miss Trixie, fourth in the NMRC, was a stakes winner at 2, winning 3 of 5 starts, but has just a second and third in five races this year.

Owned by Martha Gallaway and trained by Todd Fincher, Miss Trixie has still run respectably and could be let go at a good price Friday under Wade Rini.
