Thoroughbred Horse Show Association to host show at Kentucky Horse Park

The Thoroughbred Horse Show Association will host its fourth annual show on Sunday, May 3 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky., benefiting Our Mims Retirement Haven for broodmares.

This year’s event is held in conjunction with the Thoroughbred Alliance Show Series and the Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program. Both groups offer year-end awards to nominated entries.

Classes featured in the show include western, jumping, dressage, pleasure and in-hand classes. Entries for the show close April 18.

“Thanks to the support of our generous sponsors, we can continue our goal of giving owners an affordable option to ride or hand-walk their Thoroughbreds under actual show conditions,” said THSA executive director Jan Roehl. “The horses gain valuable experience and fans enjoy seeing horses from the track transitioning to new careers.”

One of the marquee names at last year’s show was Rahy’s Attorney, Canada’s champion turf horse of 2008 and an earner of more than $2 million. The gelding dabbled in a second career as a Keeneland outrider mount.
