Thoroughbred Charities of America to hold stallion season auction

Thoroughbred Charities of America will hold its 24th annual stallion season auction from Jan. 2-4, featuring phone and online bidding, as well as a live auction.

The majority of the seasons will be offered during the phone and online bidding portion of the auction. Online bidding will open at 9 a.m. Eastern on Jan. 2 and continue through 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4. Telephone bids will be accepted Jan. 2-3 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Jan. 4 from 9 a.m.–10 a.m. Interested bidders may register on the TCA website.

The sale will culminate with a live select stallion season auction on Jan. 4 at the Keeneland Entertainment Center in Lexington, Ky., featuring seasons from approximately 10-15 stallions. In addition to the seasons, the live auction will feature non-season lots such as a Triple Crown ticket package, John Deere mower, tickets for the 2014 Breeders’ Cup and a NASCAR race at the Kentucky Speedway and much more. A silent auction will also be offered.

“Planning is in full swing for our annual stallion season auction,” said Erin Crady, executive director of TCA. “The auction is our largest annual fundraiser and is vital to TCA as it enables us to grant funds to Thoroughbred-related non-profit organizations across the nation.”

In 2013, TCA granted over $500,000 to more than 70 Thoroughbred industry-related charities working within aftercare, backstretch community services, education and therapeutic riding.
