Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance conducting survey

The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, a group formed by a handful of racing organizations to promote retirement services for racehorses, has posted a survey on its website, www.thoroughbredaftercare.org, and is asking retirement and retraining facilities to complete the form, the group said.

Mike Ziegler, the interim director of the TAA, said that the surveys would help the organization “gain a better understanding of the landscape to help us in fulfilling the TAA’s mission of financial contribution toward Thoroughbred aftercare efforts at accredited facilities.”

The TAA was formed in February with seed money from Breeders’ Cup Ltd., the Jockey Club, and Keeneland. The group is planning to issue requirements that would need to be met for the accreditation of retirement and retraining organizations. The TTA also plans to raise funds on behalf of the operations it accredits.
