Thistledown: Tri Uimet wires Gold Cup

Tri Uimet ($13.80) broke sharply to lead every step of the way under Thistledown's leading rider, Scott Spieth, and drew off to a 5 3/4-length win in the 39th running of the $100,000 Cleveland Gold Cup.

Not Broke Yet rallied from the second flight to get up for second, a length in front of Dooze in the field of 12 Ohio-bred 3-year-olds.

Tri Uimet, a son of Lac Ouimet, out of Permier Tri, by Premiership, is owned by Gerald Silver and trained by Thistledown's leading trainer, Jeff Radosevich. He covered the nine furlongs in 1:52.34 over a fast racing strip.
