Thistledown: Needmore Flattery stays unbeaten with Cleveland Kindergarten victory

Needmore Flattery remained undefeated after disposing a field of 2-year-old Ohio-bred horses in the $50,000 Cleveland Kindergarten at Thistledown on Saturday afternoon.

One of two fillies in the field of eight, Needmore Flattery overcame a bumping incident at the start and was to the outside of the field early. Jockey Irwin Rosendo edged his mount closer to the front of the field in upper stretch, and she took him to the lead, drawing off to win by two lengths at the wire.

Spring Song led in upper stretch but settled for second, 1 ¾ lengths in front of Obsessionsoptimist in third.

Trained by Tim Hamm, Needmore Flattery returned $4.80 to win as the favorite and ran the six furlongs over a fast track in 1.12.44
