Thistledown: Floater wins

NORTH RANDALL, Ohio - Floater won the $75,000 Juvenile Stakes by 1 1/2 lengths over Dawn's Revenge. It was 5 3/4 lengths farther back to White Angel Light in third.

Floater had to survive an objection by Lyndon Hannigan, rider of Dawn's Revenge.

Floater, under Mike Rowland, went up to prompt the pacesetting Dawn's Revenge before a half-mile had been run in the 1 1/16-mile race. Entering the stretch, Floater came in a bit under right-handed whipping. Dawn's Revenge checked a bit inside the winner.

Floater, trained by Tim Girten for owner-breeder Elisabeth H. Alexander, kept his record unblemished in three starts and won his first stakes. He ran the 1 1/16 miles in 1:48.72 over the fast racing strip and paid $4.40.
