Thistledown: Eight invaders

NORTH RANDALL, Ohio - Eight shippers are among the 12 fillies and mares in Monday's $35,000 Scarlet Carnation Stakes.

Alison's Winner, owned by Frank Regalbuto and John Quagliata, is highweighted at 122 pounds in the six-furlong race, and will be spotting from six to 12 pounds to her rivals.

Alison's Winner, a 6-year-old homebred daughter of Pine Bluff, has won stakes in both her starts this year. She won Mountaineer Park's five-furlong Hancock County Handicap in her last start on May 13, going wire to wire. On April 19 she won the six-furlong Angenora Stakes here by two lengths.

Alison's Winner will be hard to catch in the Scarlet Carnation. Julio Felix will ride for trainer Rodrigo Madrigal Sr.

Up from Churchill is Abundantly Blessed, who won the Mountaineer Park HBPA Stakes last year. In four starts this year, her best finishes were a second in the Kissapotamus Stakes at Hawthorne and a third last out in an optional claimer at Churchill. She has the tactical speed to be well placed Monday.

Pyrite Dance has won her last three races, all at Thistledown.
