Thistledown: Catch My Cat heads Rowland

Catch My Cat, second in her seasonal debut in the Edward Babst Memorial Handicap at Beulah Park on April 16, takes up high weight of 123 pounds to head a field of six Ohio-bred 3-year-olds and up in the $40,000 Mike Rowland Memorial Handicap at Thistledown.

Catch My Cat, a 4-year-old gelded son of Noble Cat, won 3 of his 10 starts last year, including victories at Saratoga and Churchill Downs while racing with $50,000 sprinters. In his last race, he dueled three wide for the lead into the stretch, gained a slight advantage, and finished second, beaten 2 1/2 lengths at six furlongs, the distance of Saturday's race. He has the tactical speed to be with the pace, and if he benefits at all from his last race will be tough to handle. Andrew Ramgeet will ride for trainer Charlton Baker.

The main opposition should come from Catlaunch and Clever Jimmy C. Catlaunch set the pace in the Babst before tiring to finish third, beaten 4 1/2 lengths. Before that he won a six-furlong allowance race at Beulah Park against open company. Trained by Albert C. Palacios, he can once again be expected to set the pace under Hector Rosario Jr. He will carry 121 pounds.

Clever Jimmy C returns from a second-place finish in starter-allowance company at Thistledown on April 30 going six furlongs. He has a strong closing kick when sprinting. Ricardo Feliciano will ride for his father, Benny Feliciano, and carry 116 pounds.
