A chain-reaction bumping incident heading into the final turn led to the disqualification of odds-on favorite Applicant in the $50,000 Buffalo Stakes at Assiniboia Downs on Saturday evening.

There's a Place, who was not involved in the skirmishing, inherited the win in the one-mile Buffalo after finishing nine lengths behind Applicant in second place.

There's a Place, who had won her maiden over five furlongs last time out, was making her stakes debut for trainer Marvin Buffalo and jockey Tyrone Nelson. She returned $5.70 as the second choice.

Wiskey Bandit was moved to second place, Fabulous Fifty to third, and Battle Advance to fourth.

Applicant was placed fifth in the field of six Manitoba-bred 2-year-olds.

There's a Place, one of three fillies and three offspring of the sire Battle Cat in the lineup, earned $30,600.
