Texas yearling sale slated for August

Email

The Texas Thoroughbred Association will host a yearling sale at Lone Star Park in late August on a date to be announced.

The breed organization made the announcement Monday during its inaugural 2-year-olds in training sale, the first auction it conducted after Fasig-Tipton ended its partnership with the group following the 2015 juvenile sale. The 2015 yearling sale was canceled.

During the 2-year-old sale, the TTA proved itself an able steward of the Texas sales industry. While returns generally trailed those seen in 2015, the market did see some bright spots, including a higher average, significantly improved buyback rate and an active upper market, led by a $95,000 Too Much Bling filly.

This summer’s yearling auction will be managed by Tim Boyce, who led the 2-year-old sale and was previously the Texas sales director for Fasig-Tipton.
