Texas Thoroughbred Association sale features 126 juveniles

The catalog for the 2018 Texas Thoroughbred Association sale of 2-year-olds in training is now available online, with 126 horses entered.

The auction will take place Tuesday, April 10, in the Texas Thoroughbred Sale Pavilion at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, beginning at noon Central. It will be preceded by the undertack show on Sunday, April 8, at 11 a.m.

Print copies of the catalog will be mailed out this week.

This year’s sale will be the third hosted by the TTA, in partnership with Lone Star Park, since taking over management of the state’s Thoroughbred auction activities. In those years, the catalog has grown from 85 offerings in 2016 to 105 last year and 126 in 2018.

“It’s very gratifying to see that we’ve been able to attract about 20 more head each year,” said TTA executive director Mary Ruyle. “Our goal was to reestablish a viable marketplace for consignors and buyers from around the Southwest, and the increased catalog size each year shows that we are on the way to doing that.”

Horses cataloged in the sale will be eligible for the male or female division of the Texas Thoroughbred Futurity in July at Lone Star Park, each with an estimated purse of $100,000.

Stallions whose first crops are represented with juveniles in the catalog include Cairo Prince, Can the Man, Cross Traffic, Goldencents, Moro Tap, Shakin It Up, Sum of the Parts, and Will Take Charge.
