Terrific Challenge scores

Terrific Challenge with Joe Bravo riding wins the Sneakbox Stakes at Monmouth Park establishing a new course record of 1:02.49 for 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf.

Beating Terrific Challenge proved too challenging a task for his five 3-year-old rivals in Monmouth's $60,000 Sneakbox Stakes on turf.

Breaking last under Joe Bravo, Terrific Challenge, the odds-on favorite, advanced steadily throughout the 5 1/2-furlong Sneakbox. Into the stretch, the 5-1 shot Lucky Pulpit briefly took over from weakening pacesetter Sarah's Prospect, who had set fractions of 22.96 seconds and 45.32. But Lucky Pulpit had no response for Terrific Challenge's late run, and finished 1 1/2 lengths back as the winner stopped the timer in 1:02.49 on firm turf, setting a course record. Longshot Freedom's Honor was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third.

Owned and trained by Stanley Hough, Terrific Challenge paid $3.60 to win. Last out he set a Monmouth course record in the John McSorley Stakes.

"This horse is truly amazing," said Bravo. "He really backed up his last race with an amazing performance today. Stanley really has this horse good right now."
