Terriffico just gets up

Terriffico needed every inch of the Presque Isle stretch Friday evening to get up to win the $75,000 Dusty Screen against seven other Pennsylvania-bred 3-year-olds. Trained by Henry Miller Jr., Terriffico was kept back early by jockey Willie Martinez, and then rallied strongly in the stretch to wear down Balian and win by a nose.

Balian, trained by Steve Klesaris, led in upper stretch, but was unable to hold off the winner in a stirring stretch duel. Power T was two lengths back in third. Terriffico returned a hefty $66.60 to win and ran the mile in 1.37.26 over the Tapeta surface.
