Tellin on You should get right trip

LINCOLN, Neb. - Tellin on You and Paradise Pete should vie for favoritism when eight 3-year-olds meet in the $17,500 State Fair Derby going one mile at Lincoln.

Tellin on You comes into the derby off a one-length win in the State Fair Breeders' Stakes against Nebraska-breds in his last start. He rallied from just off the pace to claim the win and has the style to take advantage of what should be a contested pace. Trainer David Anderson will have leading rider Yuri Yaranga aboard from post 7.

Paradise Pete and Rio Tricky will race as an uncoupled entry for trainer Kim Veerhusen, and both have a tendency to show speed, with Rio Tricky being the confirmed speed in the race. Paradise Pete, who won the Journal Star Stakes via disqualification here May 24, has also done his best from very close to the pace. Both will be stretching out to a mile for the first time in their careers and are likely to be the speed of the race.

Untouchable Time, trained by Mark Lemburg, will also bear watching in this spot. He comes into the race off a closing third in the Journal Star Stakes. In his lone attempt at one mile, Untouchable Time stalked the leaders and finished an even third against second-level allowance company. Untouchable Time drew post 8 and will have Mike Luark aboard.
