Teagues Fight draws far outside

EDMONTON, Alberta - Teagues Fight cuts back in distance, carries high weight of 123 pounds, and breaks from the outside post in a field of eight in a strong renewal of the Sun Sprint Championship at Northlands Park on Monday afternoon.

The good news is that Teagues Fight is 3 for 4 at the 6 1/2-furlong Sun Sprint distance, has proven he can carry weight, and gets plenty of pace to run at in the $50,000 feature, which attracted noted speedsters Inuit Fisher, Cool Synsation, and Garys Buddy.

Teagues Fight is back on rather short rest after posting a 94 Beyer Speed Figure, his best of the campaign, when second to Test Boy in the 1 1/16-mile Don Fleming here July 26.

Inuit Fisher, winner of the 6 1/2-furlong Journal two starts back, was third in the Fleming after setting the early fractions and draws the coveted rail here with Quincy Welch up.

Cool Synsation, arguably one of the quickest sprinters on this circuit, drew post 3 with Real Simard back aboard. Simard piloted the 4-year-old gelding to victory two starts back, getting the 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:16.40.

Garys Buddy bested fellow 3-year-olds two starts back in the Western Canada, posting a 6 1/2-furlong time of 1:16.60, and figures to prompt the pace in his first try versus older horses.
