Taylor Made Stallions in Nicholasville, Ky., announced on Sunday that stud fees for four of its five returning stallions will be lower in 2013. Prominent sire Unbridled’s Song will stand for $60,000, down from $85,000 in 2012, payable when foal stands and nurses.
Unbridled’s Song has sired 96 stakes winners and 42 graded stakes winners from 13 crops of racing age, including champions Midshipman and Embur’s Song, and his progeny have earned more than $84 million. In 2012, he is represented by Grade 1 winner Emcee.
Unbridled’s Song’s Grade 1-winning son Old Fashioned will have the same fee, $8,000 stands and nurses, in 2013 as this year. His first crop of yearlings has been well received at North American auctionsin 2012, as 53 have sold for an average of $58,264. In August, a filly by Old Fashioned sold for $360,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga selected yearling sale, the highest-priced yearling by a first-crop sire at a North American auction this year.
Grade 3 winner Astrology will stand his first breeding season in 2013 for $7,500 foal stands and nurses. The other Taylor Made’s stallions, with stud fees, all payable when foal stands and nurses: Eskendereya, $17,500, down from $25,000; Forestry, $8,000, down from $12,500; and Northern Afleet, $8,000, down from $15,000.
