Tattersalls releases catalog for Craven breeze-up sale

The catalog for the Tattersalls Ltd. Craven breeze-up 2-year-olds in training sale is available online.

The two-day sale will be held on April 17-18 in Newmarket, England, preceded by the pre-sale under-tack show scheduled for Tuesday, April 16 at 9 a.m. local time at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile. The 182-horse catalog features one fewer lot than last year’s book.

Among the leading sires represented with juveniles in the Craven breeze-up sale are Acclamation, Danehill Dancer, Dubawi, Galileo, Invincible Spirit, Oasis Dream, Pivotal, and Teofilo.

North American sires represented in the catalog include Arch, Bernardini, Candy Ride, Dynaformer, Exchange Rate, Giant’s Causeway, Hard Spun, Kitten’s Joy, Malibu Moon, More Than Ready, Speightstown, Street Cry, Tapit and War Front.

Last year’s Craven breeze-up sale posted gains in total revenues and average sale price with a smaller catalog, but the median price fell slightly. The top price came from a Shamardal colt out of the winning Swain mare Balloura, who was purchased by John Ferguson, bloodstock adviser to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum for 500,000 guineas, or approximately $796,775.

“As well as more Group winners, the 2012 Craven Breeze-Up produced more winners than any other European two year olds in training sale and the 2013 catalogue looks to have all the ingredients to entice a wide cross section of buyers, both domestic and overseas,” said Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony.

“In addition to a catalogue of outstanding quality, Europe's premier breeze up has the added attraction of 115 lots eligible for the hugely popular Racing Post Yearling Bonus, and in total, more than 70 percent of the catalogue is eligible for a variety of lucrative incentive schemes including the Tattersalls Millions Series, the Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sale Stakes, and the recently introduced BOBIS Scheme."
