Tattersalls October yearling sale Book 1 now online

The catalog for Book 1 of the Tattersalls October yearling sale is now available online, featuring 513 lots.

The sale’s first of four books will span three days, from Tuesday, October 8 to Thursday, October 10, beginning each day at noon local time.

Perhaps most notable statistic among the first book’s offerings is that 47 of the yearlings are by world-class sire Galileo. He is followed by Invincible Spirit with 28, Exceed and Excel with 24, and Teofilo with 19.

The class of first-crop sires represented in the catalog includes Grade/Group 1 winners Arcano, Blame, Equiano, Lookin at Lucky, Lope de Vega, Makfi, Paco Boy, Rip Van Winkle, and Vale of York. Other North American sires with foals in Book 1 include Arch, Bernardini, Elusive Quality, Giant’s Causeway, Hard Spun, More Than Ready, Speightstown, Street Cry, and War Front.

"Last year's October Book 1 attracted buyers from throughout the world at all levels of the market and the 2013 catalog looks to have all the ingredients to replicate the success of last year's sale,” said Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony. “All 513 yearlings are eligible for the six races and 1.3 million pounds prize money on offer for the Tattersalls Millions, and recent racecourse successes have provided equally compelling reasons for owners and trainers to target Europe’s premier yearling sale.

“Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale has produced the winners of the [Epsom] Derby, [Epsom] Oaks, [English] 2,000 Guineas, Irish Derby, Irish 2,000 Guineas and Irish 1,000 Guineas in the last 15 months, at prices ranging from 39,000 guineas to 1.2 million guineas and it is the consistent combination of classic quality at all levels of the market that sets Book 1 above all other European yearling sales," Mahony continued.

Physical copies of the catalog will be available from Tattersalls and Tattersalls representatives on Monday, August 19.
