Tattersalls Ireland has named Neil Walsh as the company’s new head of bloodstock sales, promoting him from his previous role as bloodstock representative.

The Ratoath, County Meath, auction house also announced Friday that two of its longtime directors – Michael Hillman and Martin Mitchell – will retire. Hillman first joined Tattersalls Ireland in 1975, when Ballsbridge International Sales was founded and before its merger with Tattersalls. Mitchell has been a director for more than 20 years.

Walsh came to Tattersalls in 2008 after working at Horse Racing Ireland and the Irish Turf Club. He will be in charge of organizing Tattersalls Ireland’s bloodstock sales and client relations.

Tattersalls Ireland’s auction season kicks off in 2013 with the February National Hunt sale on Feb. 5-6.
