That Tat victorious in Island Whirl

BOSSIER CITY, La. - That Tat, highweighted and favored in Sunday's Island Whirl Handicap, validated both counts with a determined three quarter length win in the $50,000 headliner. Ole Rebel was making progress late on the far outside to get second followed by Taxicat. Early pacesetter and second choice in the waging More Crafty weakened in the late going to finish fourth.

Idle since a fifth place finish on the turf at Lone Star on Memorial Day, That Tat ($4.80) returned to the maintrack in the Island Whirl and pressed barnmate More Crafty through moderate fractions of :22.59 and :46.51 before jockey John Jacinto asked for some run turning for home. The Cole Norman charge stopped the timer in 1:10.45 in winning for the 14th time in 38 career starts. The 6-year-old gelding has now earned over $450,000 for owners Ken Murphy Thoroughbreds.
