That Tat takes Express

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - That Tat held off Doctor Mike by three-quarters of a length to win the $75,000 Ford Express at Lone Star Park on Saturday before a crowd of 18,119.

It was four lengths back in third to Front Nine.

That Tat($3.20) was with the pace from the start, as Richest Half ran the opening quarter of the six-furlong race in 21.49 seconds. That Tat took command at the top of the stretch, and covered the distance over a fast track in 1:09.05.

"I did hear Doctor Mike coming hard on the outside, but That Tat just caught another gear," said Eddie Martin, Jr., who rode That Tat for trainer Cole Norman.

The Ford Express win was the second straight for Norman, who won the race last year with Beau's Town.

That Tat earned $45,000 on Saturday, which improved his record to 10 wins from 26 starts for earnings of $254,585. He races for Ken Murphy, who claimed him for $20,000 last March.

That Tat has not been beaten in three starts this year. He won a $60,000 optional claimer over Chindi at Oaklawn on Feb. 5, and in his last start, April 11, set a Lone Star track record when he won a five and a half furlong allowance in 1:01.40.
