Tapit on for Risen Star

Tapit, the undefeated Triple Crown hopeful, is scheduled to make his year's debut in the Risen Star Stakes on Feb. 15 at Fair Grounds.

The plans were made public on the Tapeta Farm website, on which Tapit has his own link. Tapeta is the home base of Michael Dickinson, who trains Tapit for Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC.

The website also stated that Jerry Bailey was expected to ride Tapit.

Efforts to reach Dickinson on Tuesday were unsuccessful.

Tapit left Tapeta and arrived Jan. 14 at the Palm Meadows training center in Florida, fueling speculation he would make his seasonal debut at Gulfstream Park.

Tapit, a gray Pulpit colt, won his career debut by almost eight lengths last October at Delaware Park. He then overcame a difficult trip and won the Laurel Futurity by 4 3/4 lengths, thrusting him onto the Triple Crown scene.

Monday, Tapit had his second work at Palm Meadows, breezing six furlongs in 1:13.60.
