Tap Dancing Mauk wins Bosselman

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - Tap Dancing Mauk left the graded stakes company of Florida for Saturday's $100,000 Bosselman/Gus Fonner Stakes at Fonner Park and scored his first win of the year, a one-length score under R.D. Williams.

Yourmoneysnogood, favored at 6-5, never got loose on the lead as last year's runner-up, Motion Approved, shadowed the pace for a half-mile. Motion Approved moved to challenge early on the backstretch and Williams eased Tap Dancing Mauk outside going to the final turn of the mile and a sixteenth race.

As the field reached the stretch, Williams set down Tap Dancing Mauk for the drive and got clear late, covering the distance in 1:47.60 over a fast track. Trained by Eduardo Caramori, Tap Dancing Mauk returned $4.80 and combined with Motion Approved for a 6-3 exacta worth $42.80. Yourmoneysnogood settled for third, a head back of Motion Approved.

The $60,000 winner's share boosted Tap Dancing Mauk's career bankroll to more than $330,000 from a mark of 6-4-6 from 32 starts. The Bosselman was his first win since a track record performance in the Zia Park Distance Championship last December. He since had faced raced in the Grade 1 Donn and Grade 3 Skip Away handicaps at Gulfstream Park.
