OLDSMAR, Fla. - Great Attack came four wide out of the turn and rallied outside the leaders through the drive to outfinish Western Prospector for a three-quarter-length victory in the $75,000 Tampa Turf Dash on Saturday.
Jeffrey Sanchez piloted Great Attack for trainer Wesley Ward. Great Attack covered the five furlongs over a turf course listed as "good" following rains on Friday in 55.93 seconds and returned $6.80 as the second choice of the field of eight.
Western Prospector, who got through along the rail under Leandro Goncalves to challenge for the lead into the final furlong, hung a bit ate but saved the place by a length over favored Private Jet. Little Nick finished fourth.
Gibson, who was responsible for scorching fractions of 21.22 and 43.80, faded late to finish seventh.
The win was the fifth of Great Attack's career and the $45,000 winner's share upped his career earnings to $290,918.

WILCOX went five-wide on the first turn en route to a nine-length loss when he debuted around two turns on the Polytrack. The son of the highly successful Giant's Causeway is a half-brother to the stakes-placed turf expert Woodbourne. He should make some noise for an accomplished second-out trainer, who's enlisted a hot Stein for the mount. ATTENDANT was a minor player on the grass at the Fair Grounds, before trailing in a small field in the Wando Stakes here on the Poly. AIR BLADE regressed off his big comeback race most recently.
