OLDSMAR, Fla. - Swinging five wide out of the final turn, Doubles Partner closed fast down the middle of the course to run down Rahystrada and score a popular neck victory in the Grade 3, $125,000 Tampa Bay Stakes.

Ridden by Julien Leparouox in the 1 1/16-mile turf race, Doubles Partner languished in mid-pack for six furlongs as Yankee Injunity set a sensible pace under Willie Martinez that included a half of 48.07 seconds and six furlongs of 1:11.38, followed closely by Don Cavallo and Rahystrada.

Turning for home Don Cavallo gave up the chase and Rahystrada went after the leader while Doubles Partners and a host of others, including Bearpath and Teaks North, were gearing up with their stretch runs.

Rahystrada gained a short lead in deep stretch but Doubles Partner nailed him in the final strides.
Voodoo Swing, who was forced to swing widest of all for his run, closed like a shot from last and wound up third, beaten two. Bearpath finished another neck back in fourth while making up ground between rivals.

Doubles Partner returned $6.60 as the favorite in the 10-horse field. The Todd Pletcher trainee covered the distance over a firm course in 1:40.67, a little over a second off the track record of 1:39.65.
