Taletobetold fresh for her favorite distance

Taletobetold comes off a two-month layoff to face nine other fillies and mares in the $60,000 The Girls at Indiana Downs on Wednesday evening.

Trained by Eddie Kenneally, Taletobetold last ran March 14 at Fair Grounds, finishing fifth in the $75,000 Bienville. Taletobetold led to upper stretch of the 5 1/2-furlong turf race before giving way.

The Girls is a five-furlong sprint on the turf and should suit Taletobetold, since she has been in the money in 8 of 15 attempts at that distance on the turf, including a pair of wins at Churchill Downs in 2008. Terry Houghton will ride.

Jazzy is the main threat to Taletobetold and may be the favorite if the race is taken off the grass. Trained by Kellyn Gorder, Jazzy has not won since she took the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom on the main track at Belmont in September 2007, earning a lifetime-high Beyer of 96. She has been racing on turf and synthetic tracks, and a return to dirt might be what she needs to wake up.

Jazzy's best finishes in 2008 were her first and last races of the year. She ran second in the Bienville at Fair Grounds and second in the Lightning City at Tampa Bay Downs. Both were turf sprints. She has competed in both of the last two Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprints.

Antevopa, Insure, Goldinthepocket, Miss A. Bomb, Heart Tee, Glitzen Glory, Mrs. Petoski, and Rinterval are also entered.
