Jockey Joe Talamo is expected to resume riding at Santa Anita on April 16.

Jockey Joe Talamo will miss a week of riding after bruising a shoulder in a spill after the Santa Paula Stakes.

Talamo was unseated from Sensitively when the filly fell a few strides after finishing last. Talamo was taken to a hospital, where X-rays showed no fractures. The rider saw a doctor Monday who advised a week of rest.

Talamo, 25, is expected to resume riding at Santa Anita on April 16.

“The X-ray showed nothing was broken and that he bruised it pretty bad,” said Scotty McClellan, Talamo’s agent. “The specialist recommended that he rest it. When he heard that, he decided to take it easy.”

Through Sunday, Talamo was sixth in the jockeys’ standings with 27 wins at the winter-spring meeting.

Sensitively, the 6-5 favorite, was not injured in the one-horse spill. Trainer Phil D’Amato said Sunday that the filly will undergo precautionary tests this week.
