ARCADIA, Calif. – Jockey Joe Talamo is booked on three mounts on Thursday’s eight-race program at Santa Anita after missing three days of racing last weekend while recovering from a minor injury suffered in a two-horse spill Oct. 19. Talamo bruised his leg when he was unseated from his mount in a turf race. He did not ride from Friday through Sunday last weekend. Talamo is booked Thursday to ride Minister’s Glory in the third race, Holy Whirl Wind in the sixth race, and Croatian in the eighth. Jockey Israel Ocampo was involved in the Oct. 19 spill when his horse suffered a fatal leg injury. Ocampo will be sidelined for at least a month, according to his agent, Tommy Ball. Ocampo underwent surgery Oct. 19 to have a stabilizing pin placed in his hand. He is scheduled to be evaluated by a doctor in two weeks, when a timeline for his return will be clearer, Ball said. Baffert, Sierra fined Trainers Bob Baffert and Javier Sierra were fined by Santa Anita stewards Sunday for medication violations found in their runners during the summer. Baffert was fined $1,000 after Diamondsandpearls tested in excess of the anti-inflammatory bute when she won a maiden race for 2-year-old fillies July 2 at Santa Anita. Sierra was fined $750 after Gutsy Ruler tested positive for the banned medication flumethasone, a corticosteroid. Gutsy Ruler’s positive was found from a post-race test after the 6-year-old gelding won an optional claimer at five furlongs on turf Aug. 6 at Del Mar.
