Tails of the Crypt catches Streakin Rob to win Display

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Tails of the Crypt unleashed a big stretch kick to mow down Streakin Rob in the final strides for a three-quarter-length score in Saturday's $112,500 Display Stakes for 2-year-olds at Woodbine.

Tails of the Crypt raced six lengths off the early lead under Jake Barton, who swung him wide for the drive. Streakin Rob set rapid fractions of 23.21 seconds and 46.93 in the 1 1/16-mile race, and had a two-length lead at the eighth pole.

Funny Soldier finished another 1 1/2 lengths back in third after stalking the pace. Second choice Foregone was fourth, while lukewarm favorite Pat's Expectation ended up sixth. The final time was 1:44.62.

"He's very professional for the amount of time he's been at the track," said Barton of Tails of the Crypt. "He's just a pleasure to ride."

Tails of the Crypt ($15.90) earned $67,500 in his first stakes triumph for the Jam Jar Racing Stable and trainer John Ross.
