STICKNEY, Ill. – The Tabulator faded to fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, but the colt’s connections probably will give him one more chance to shine this year.

While no final decision has been made, The Tabulator is tentatively scheduled to start Dec. 17 at Remington Park in the $400,000 Springboard Mile, trainer Larry Rivelli said.

“Soundness-wise he came back great,” said Rivelli, who has The Tabulator back with his string at Hawthorne.

Rivelli said a winter break also has been contemplated for The Tabulator, a son of Dialed In owned by Carolyn Wilson, but that the Springboard is the leading option right now.

“If he stays as good as he is right now that’s probably what we’ll do,” he said.

The Tabulator won a maiden race at Arlington, the Prairie Gold Juvenile at Prairie Meadows, and the Grade 3 Iroquois at Churchill to start his 2-year-old season. He contested a strong pace Saturday undre Jose Valdivia in the BC Juvenile and still was in contention at the quarter pole, but faded to fifth, beaten about 15 lengths by victorious Good Magic.

“I thought he ran good,” Rivelli said. “He had a little bit of a reaction to the Lasix I think. Valdivia said from the half to the three-eighths he thought he was going to win, but he kind of flattened out at the top of the stretch. I’m going to take him off Lasix.”
