ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Sweetest Thing blew away her rivals as the heavy favorite in Saturday's $250,000 Wonder Where Stakes, the third leg of the Canadian Triple Tiara for Canadian-breds at Woodbine.

Sweetest Thing, trained by Roger Attfield, completed a unique double by winning the turf race. She beat males in her previous start in the Breeders' Stakes, the third jewel of the Canadian Triple Crown.

Clubay and Night Edition dueled on the front end along the backstretch of the race, while Sweetest Thing sat about seven lengths off the early lead. Sweetest Thing loomed into contention while four wide on the far turn, assumed command early in the stretch, and then drew off for a 4 1/2-length victory over runner-up Noble Strike.

Soundtrack rallied from last to finish third in the eight-horse field. The time for the distance of about1 1/4 miles was 2:06.08.

"She showed an excellent turf of foot today at the head of the stretch," said Jim McAleney, who rode the winner. "She seems to be getting better with every race."

Sweetest Thing ($3) earned $150,000 for owners Attfield, Mickey Canino and Bill Werner.
