Sweet Repent finds return spot

MIAMI -- Sweet Repent, who was given a much-deserved vacation after capping off a five-race win streak with an easy victory in the Sunshine Millions Distaff on Jan. 30, will make her return here on Saturday in the $65,000 Nancy's Glitter Handicap.

Sweet Repent rose from the allowance ranks to the top of the local filly and mare division last winter, winning four stakes during her skein, including the Grade 3 Stage Door Betty Handicap in her 3-year-old finale here on Dec. 26.

"She can get a little thin, and after all those races we just decided she needed a break," trainer David Braddy said on Friday. "She's done well since she's returned and hopefully she'll come back as good as she left."

Sweet Repent has kept a steady work schedule since the end of May, capping off a string of five- and six-furlong drills with a bullet five-eighths in 1:01.40 here on Tuesday.

"She looks great right now, but I do think she'll need a race the first time back," said Braddy. "Other than this race we have nothing picked out for her. The owners are from New York and would love to race her at Saratoga. The big drawback with taking her to New York has always been the holding barn -- we felt she might leave her race right there -- but now that it's gone there is the possibility we could bring her up there later this summer."

Sweet Repent is owned by the Buongiorno A Tutti Stables.
