Sweet Idea wins Sam Houston Oaks

Sweet Idea wins the $40,000 Sam Houston Oaks at Sam Houston Race Park.

Sweet Idea won her third straight race Saturday night when she powered to a four and a half length win in the $40,000 Sam Houston Oaks at Sam Houston Race Park. Seven Anns finished second, while it was two and three-quarter lengths back in third to Cora Zon d'Oro.

Chit Chat Pam, the favorite, finished fourth in the Sam Houston Oaks.

Sweet Idea ($6) stalked the pace early in the one-mile race, overtook the leaders and went on to cover the distance in 1:40.18. She has now won her last three starts by a combined 34 lengths. Quincy Hamilton rode the winner for trainer Bret Calhoun.

Sweet Idea has now won three of six starts and $42,240. She races for Barnett Stables.
