Sweater Weather came with a strong late rally Sunday to win the La Lorgnette Stakes at Woodbine.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The favored Sweater Weather rallied strongly under Patrick Husbands to take the $171,750 La Lorgnette Stakes over Unspurned at Woodbine on Sunday.

Paradise Alley and Enhanced dueled through fast fractions in the 1 1/16-mile route, while being stalked by Unspurned, as Sweater Weather bided her time in sixth.

Sweater Weather commenced a three-wide bid on the far turn and mowed down Unspurned at the sixteenth pole en route to a 1 1/2-length victory in a quick 1:43.70. Llanarmon closed belatedly for third in the eight-horse field of Ontario-sired 3-year-old fillies.

Sweater Weather ($5.80) earned $114,000 for owner Frank DiGiulio Jr. and trainer Bob Tiller.

“When I rode this filly last time, she flattened out down the lane,” Husbands recalled. “When I went back and watched the rerun, they went three-quarters in 1:11, and I realized I was too close. Today, she broke sharp. I took her right out of the race, and she relaxed. I made sure I spotted them six or seven lengths, and she gave me a [good] turn of foot.”
