Swale Stakes preview

Race 5 - Gulfstream Park
6 1/2 Furlongs
Swale Stakes (Grade 2)
Purse $150,000.

COWTOWN CAT overcame a speed-favoring Gulfstream surface to post his recent allowance score, and should trip out nicely behind several pace runners in the Swale. A $1,500,000 juvenile purchase, Cowtown Cat is working well for this assignment, and will go out for the always-dangerous Pletcher/Sciametta Jr. barn. He gained valuable experience last time by racing in and among foes for the first three furlongs before angling out turning for home, and that should serve him well if he is to come from off the pace in the Swale.
REATA'S ROCKET finished ahead of three next-out winners when taking a restricted stake at Monmouth in his final start at two. He has lots of early gas, but may have to deal with some others in the early stages. FOREFATHERS whipped next-out 90 Beyer maiden graduate Man Above when overcoming a poor start to win North American debut, then came back to take entry-level allowance condition in facile fashion in the slop. He shows a bullet workout for this, and doesn't need the lead to win.
ADORE THE GOLD has yet to taste defeat sprinting, and is another with quick workouts leading up to this race. He shouldn't be too far away when they swing into the stretch. STORM TRUST beat a pair of next-out winners in career debut, but may have been aided by a speed-favoring surface that day. Johnny V. opts for Cowtown Cat.
