Suzette rewarded her many backers with a dominating performance in the $51,813 Bird of Pay Stakes at Northlands Park Friday evening. She paid $2.90 for her 14 1/4-length romp in the 6 1/2-furlong dash for 2-year-old fillies. Breaking sharply from post 5 with leading rider Rico Walcott aboard, she sat just off her stablemate Move With Joy, who posted a quarter-mile time of 22.91 seconds. She took over the lead approaching the half-mile mark, opened up a clear lead on the stretch turn, and drew off under confident handling. Dazzling Chic rallied to finish second over Uliftmeoffmyfeet. The final time was 1:19.76. A Kentucky-bred daughter of Overanalyze, Suzette is trained by Greg Tracy. She is owned by Brad Auger and Don Danard. It was her first stakes win and her first start at Northlands. She was coming off a fourth-place finish in the $50,000 Hard Rock Casino at Hastings Aug. 7. In her only other start she won a $16,000 maiden-claiming race going 3 1/2 furlongs, also at Hastings. :: Enjoy news and analysis from DRF?
