LEXINGTON, Ky. – The first foals by 2010 classic winners Lookin at Lucky and Super Saver have arrived in central Kentucky.

Dual champion Lookin at Lucky’s first foal was born Jan. 16 at Royal Pegasus Farm in Lexington. The dark bay filly is out of Awesome, a Storm Cat half-sister to Educated Risk and Inside Information. Lookin at Lucky, by Smart Strike, was voted juvenile champion and 3-year-old champion in 2009 and 2010. His initial book of mares also included Grade or Group 1 winners Lady Carla, Peeping Fawn, and Yesterday, as well as the dams of Grade 1 winners Flashy Bull, Plum Pretty, Smarty Jones, and Virginia Waters, among others. Lookin at Lucky stands this year at Ashford Stud for $30,000.

Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver’s first foal, a daughter of the High Yield mare Yield to Faith, was born last weekend at WinStar Farm in Versailles, Ky. Super Saver stands at WinStar, which also bred and raced the son of Supercharger, by A. P. Indy. He earned more than $1.8 million in a career that also featured a stakes record-setting win in the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes.

Super Saver, a Maria’s Mon horse, bred 145 mares in his first year at stud last season. He stands at WinStar this year for $20,000.

Super Saver beat Lookin at Lucky in the 2010 Derby. Lookin at Lucky came back to defeat Super Saver in the Preakness and Haskell.
