Super Duper Me looks best in Gold Strike

WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Two $15,000 divisions of the Gold Strike are featured on Friday's card here at Assinbioia Downs. The one-mile races, one for colts and geldings and one for fillies, are restricted to Manitoba-bred 3-year-olds.

Super Duper Me, the only multiple winner in the field, appears to be the one to beat in the colts and geldings division. Trained by Leonard Anderson, Super Duper Me won the restricted North Dakota Stallion Stakes, also at one mile, here in his last start.

Shrike's Coin and Tall Tale are the only other winners in the field. Also entered are Rock a Fella, Herb's Lucky Joe, On the Nickel, Realadar, and Heart Smart.

Smart Miss, a beaten favorite in her last three, will likely be favored again in the filly division of the Gold Strike. Trained by Lorna Gray, Smart Miss finished third in the North Dakota Stallion Stakes last time out and was second in the restricted R. C. Anderson Stakes prior to that.

No Logic, Redna and April's No Fool are the other winners in the field. Also entered are Easters Lily, Laughing Eyes, No Reflection, Northern Money, and Circulating Tyme.

Harlequin Ranches sponsors both divisions of the stakes.

* Heading into this weekend, Martin Drexler tops the local trainer standings with 26 wins. Clay Brinson and Ardell Sayler are tied for second with 22 wins each.

Alan Cuthbertson heads the jockey standings with 65 wins. Rohan Singh is second with 38 and and Kirk Johnson is third with 37.
