Saturday's Grade 2, $750,000 Super Derby at Louisiana Downs picked up its probable favorite on Monday, when Soul Warrior was confirmed for the race by trainer Steve Asmussen. The horse will be part of a projected field of eight that includes comebacking UAE Derby winner Regal Ransom, who worked Monday at Belmont Park.

Asmussen said Soul Warrior, the winner of the in his last start Aug. 1, would be ridden by John Velazquez. The horse breezed Monday at Saratoga, going five furlongs in 1:02 over the Oklahoma training track. He was scheduled to fly in Tuesday.

Regal Ransom, set to be aboard the same flight from New York, breezed five furlongs in 59.40 seconds in his final prep for the Super Derby.

The Southern California-based Massone is also expected for the 1 1/8-mile race. He was originally scheduled to fly in Wednesday, but that flight was canceled and new arrangements for him came together on Monday.

Trainer Ron McAnally said Massone was scheduled to arrive late Tuesday via a Federal Express flight. He said Garrett Gomez has the mount on the horse, who last out won an $80,000 optional claimer at Del Mar.

Blame, the winner of the at Saratoga, worked a half-mile at Keeneland over the weekend and remains on target for the Super Derby, said his trainer, Al Stall Jr. He said Jamie Theriot has the mount. Also working over the weekend was Sumo, who went five furlongs in 1:01.20 at Fair Hill in Maryland.

Uno Mas was on the work tab Monday at Churchill, where he breezed a half-mile in 50 seconds. The winner of the last month at Louisiana Downs, Uno Mas is trained by Asmussen and will be ridden by Shane Sellers. Uno Mas earned a free berth into the Super Derby by virtue of his win in the Prelude.

Electric Alphabet and Red Lead, who were second and third in the Prelude, are both expected for the Super Derby. Francisco Torres has the mount on Red Lead, said trainer Brandon Bridges. The horse breezed a half-mile in 48 seconds Saturday at Louisiana Downs.

"He galloped out really well," Bridges said. "He's going to be on top of his game."

Entries for the Super Derby and its five undercard stakes will be drawn Wednesday.
