Sunland: Winter Camp connects at 23-1 in Bill Thomas Memorial

Winter Camp went wire to wire to upset the $50,000 Bill Thomas Memorial at 23-1 on Saturday at Sunland Park. He won by a head over Stephengothisstar, while it was another half-length back in third to Tactful.

Winter Camp ($49.60) led the field through a half-mile in 43.69 seconds and proceeded to cover the six and a half furlongs on a fast track in 1:15.04. Agapito Delgadillo rode the winner for Pacifica West Stables and trainer Jon Arnett.

It was the second win in the last three races for Winter Camp. He took an allowance at Sunland, then was seventh in the $50,000 Budweiser at the track in his start leading up to the Bill Thomas Memorial.
