Sunland: Hayley's Halo returns to sprinting for Czaria

Hayley’s Halo, who had a four-race win streak snapped last month, will likely be favored to resume her winning ways Saturday in the $50,000 Czaria at Sunland Park. She is one of eight fillies and mares set to start in the six-furlong race at the New Mexico track.

Hayley’s Halo had won four consecutive races leading up to her last start, the $100,000 Harry Henson at Sunland on March 27. She set a quick pace in that one-mile race before finishing third, and cuts back to a sprint distance for the Czaria similar to her wins in the $50,000 El Dario in February and the $55,000 Zia Distaff in November.

For the Zia Distaff, Hayley’s Halo cut back from a stakes win at a mile, and stalked and pounced for a neck win. She could get a similar trip Saturday from an accommodating post 8. Sunland leading rider Alejandro Medellin has the mount for trainer Henry Dominguez.
