Sundays will replace Thursdays on Laurel's winter schedule

Laurel Park will change its schedule for February and March by adding Sunday racing.

Beginning Feb. 1, Sundays will be added, with Laurel racing on a Friday-through-Sunday schedule. Thursdays will be dropped starting Feb. 5.

Thursday racing will resume March 5, with the track running Thursday through Sunday.

“We are trying to get people back to the race track,” said Sal Sinatra, general manager of the Maryland Jockey Club. “We are running on holiday Mondays when people are off, so why not run on Sundays when people are off? The goal is to build the fan base, to get families to come out.”

There will be Monday racing on Presidents Day, Feb. 16. Laurel will race Monday, Saturday, and Sunday that week.

The Laurel Park meet concludes March 29, and racing switches to Pimlico on April 2.

that's so obvious it's amazing they figured it out Traffic around Laurel is so bad, so congested it's too time consuming for a player to get there. No traffic I can get there in 25 minutes., traffic well 45-90 minutes. Forget bout it. .
