Sunday stakes recaps (6/20/04)


* One for Rose ($4.10) defeated Winning Chance for the sixth time in their six meetings, capturing the $175,750 Ontario Matron Handicap at Woodbine by 1 1/2 lengths. In the $108,000 Zadracarta, Heyahohowdy ($9.90). rallied to win by 1 1/4 lengths over longshot Whistling Maid.

* Cobbley's Jewel ($16.40) overtook After the Tone, the 6-5 favorite, to win by a neck the $50,000 Oakley, for 3-year-old Virginia-bred or Virginia-sired fillies at Colonial Downs.

* House Key ($15.60), a maiden winner at Belmont two starts ago, stepped up in class to score a half-length victory in the $50,000 Ontario County Handicap, a six-furlong stakes for New York-bred 3-year-olds at Finger Lakes.

* Demon Warlock sprang a $29.80 surprise in the $75,000 Budweiser Emerald Handicap at Emerald Downs, edging the favored Poker Brad by a head.

* Pie N Burger ($2.60) wore down Meteor Impact to win the Ark-La-Tex Handicap at Louisiana Downs by a length. Early pacesetter Record Assembly was third followed by Seainsky.

* Clubay ($3.10) won the Rose City at Fort Erie, fending off Alittlebitgrumpy to prevail by 2 1/4 lengths.

* Snowdrops ($5) rallied to win the $60,000 Politely Stakes by a half-length at Monmouth Park. In the $60,000 Lincroft Handicap, Trueamericanspirit ($6) continued his domination of the New Jersey-bred stakes, winning by 2 3/4 lengths.

* Brent's Challanger ($23.40) remained unbeaten in two starts on grass with a one-length victory in the $45,000 Sydney Gendelman Handicap at River Downs.
