Sunday stakes recaps (3/23/03)

Other Sunday stakes

* Not Its Not ($33.80), a former $7,500 claimer who had been beaten just once this meet at Delta Downs, scored a 1 1/4-length win in the track's richest race for older horses, the $150,000 Gulf Coast Handicap.

* Acting Deputy ($22) overtook Dreams Go Bye with 70 yards remaining to earn 1 1/4-length victory in the $107,000 La Voyageuse Handicap for fillies and mares at Woodbine.

* Ema Bovary ($9.40), a Chilean-bred 3-year-old filly, was eliminated at the start of her United States debut last month when she wheeled coming out of the gate. Sunday, She broke cleanly and held off the charge of odds-on favorite Lacie Girl by a nose to win the $59,000 Soviet Problem Handicap at Golden Gate Fields.

* Deadline ($16.60), a non-factor when he raced over a sloppy track at Aqueduct in his previous start, captured his fourth straight race over a fast surface when he outfought Gators N Bears by a neck in the $60,000 Horatius Stakes at Laurel Park.

* Honor Me ($10) fended off a strong late bid by Chindi to win the $50,000 Hot Springs Stakes by a half-length at Oaklawn Park.

* Tomahawk, the 1-2 favorite making his 3-year-old debut, scored a one-length victory in the seven-furlong Loughbrown Stakes, the opening-day feature at the Curragh in Ireland.
