Sunday deadline for entries in Monmouth's All-Time Haskell Great Simulated Race contest

Entries for Monmouth Park’s All-Time Haskell Great Simulated Race promotion end Sunday.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Haskell Invitational, Monmouth Park has put together a virtual race video matching 12 of the best horses to have won the race. To participate in the contest, one must go to the Monmouth web site, where a video of the post parade can be viewed, and try to pick the "simulation superfecta."

One of the superfecta winners will then be selected at random and receive a VIP trip for two to the July 30 Haskell, including flight and hotel accommodations.

The virtual race will be shown to the public for the first time on Haskell Day.

The field for the race, in post position order with the year they won the Haskell, is Skip Away (1996), Holy Bull (1994), Big Brown (2008), Forty Niner (1988), Serena’s Song (1995), Point Given (2001), Bet Twice (1987), Wajima (1975), American Pharoah (2015), War Emblem (2002), Rachel Alexandra (2009), and Majestic Light (1976).

A field of eight is in the making for the Grade 1, $1 million Haskell. The 1 1/8-mile race for 3-year-olds is a Win and You're In for the Breeders' Cup Classic on Nov. 4 at Del Mar. The eight probables for the race are Timeline, Irish War Cry, Practical Joke, McCraken, Battle of Midway, Girvin, Hence, and Impressive Edge.
