In Summation’s first winner comes at Delaware Park

No Fruit Degroote’s 1 1/2-length victory in a maiden special weight race on Saturday at Delaware Park made him the first winner for his sire, Grade 1 winner In Summation.

The 2-year-old colt, out of the Slew Gin Fizz mare Blazing Fizz, vied for the early lead on the inside and pulled away to maintain a safe margin through the stretch and complete the 4 1/2-furlong race in :53.33. Bred in Florida by Big C Farm No Fruit Degroote is owned by Debmar Stables and trained by Ricky Griffith.

In Summation stands at Ocala Stud Farm in Ocala, Fla. for an advertised fee of $4,000. He is represented by 60 foals in his first crop.

The 10-year-old son of Put It Back was a track/course record-setter on both coasts. His victory in the Grade 1 Bing Crosby Handicap in 2008 earned him the track record for six furlongs over Del Mar’s Polytrack surface, while his wins in the Grade 2 Palos Verdes Handicap and the Grade 3 El Conejo Handicap earlier that year registered track records over Santa Anita Park’s synthetic Pro-Ride surface at six and 5 1/2 furlongs, respectively. In Summation also set the course record for 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Monmouth Park, winning the 2007 Sneakbox Stakes.

In total, In Summation won 12 of 29 career races for earnings of $1,226,166. Eleven of those wins came in stakes races, and he posted victories on dirt, turf and synthetic surfaces.

In Summation is out of the winning Dayjur mare Fiesta Baby, who is the dam of five winners from as many foals to race, including Canadian stakes winner Dakota Duke.
